Kerrville, TX – On Tuesday June 18, Peterson Health officially opened the doors of the new Amanda and J. David Williams Surgery Center. The new surgery center boasts four state-of-the-art operating rooms, four endoscopy suites, and a procedure room, doubling previous capacity for outpatient surgery procedures. In addition to expanding its surgical capacity, the surgery center integrates the latest technology in sterile instrument processing.

It also has space on the second and third floors designated for physician clinic space. Peterson is currently building out the second floor to house Gastroenterology and Plastic Surgery practices, with the third floor remaining as unfinished space for future use.

This facility is the crown jewel of a larger strategic vision that positions Peterson Health for future growth. The $50 million project includes the surgery center, a land purchase of 157 acres, and renovations to the Pevehouse Ambulatory Care Center, allowing for expansion of Physical Therapy, Mammography, and Radiology services. Several local donors helped make this vision possible by contributing $20.4 million to the project.

“Without the support of local donors, Peterson Health could not offer the comprehensive services that we do. We are blessed to be in a community that values local access to world-class care. It’s icing on the cake to be able to commemorate our 75th year with the addition of this amazing new space,” said Cory Edmondson, President and CEO of Peterson Health. “The opening of the Amanda and J. David Williams Surgery Center allows us to stay on the cutting edge of healthcare technology and gives us the ability to renovate existing space to expand our other high demand service lines. It sets us up to maintain our position as the healthcare leader in the Hill Country.”

With the move of outpatient surgical procedures to the new surgery center, Peterson Health will start renovations on the Pevehouse Ambulatory Care Center later this year.
