What is Dry Needling Therapy?

Dry Needling Therapy is an effective and popular treatment for muscle pain among adolescents and adults. It is used to treat myofascial and neuromuscular dysfunction that can arise from a variety of reasons, typically resulting in pain, decreased range of motion, and reduced strength of a muscle.

Who is Dry Needling Therapy for?

For adolescent and adult patients experiencing muscle pain, decreased range of motion, and reduced muscle strength due to myofascial and neuromuscular dysfunction.

How does it work?

The goal is to release the tight and painful muscle via the insertion of a hair-thin needle, creating an initial tightening of the muscle, then a quick relaxation.

Trigger points are usually sore when pressed, and can also cause referred pain in other areas of the body. For example, a trigger point in the upper back can cause pain to radiate to the head, neck, shoulder, and arm.

Dry needling can treat pain in all parts of the body, including the head, neck, back, arms, and legs.

What patients say about Peterson Health

I was unexpectedly a patient at Peterson for four days, from the emergency room to the West Wing of the 3rd floor. Everyone - nurses, doctors, technicians, maintenance staff, food service, administrators, etc. - treated me with care and concern. I certainly did not want to be in the hospital, but they all made the stay a lot easier. Any call from me was answered immediately. The doctor on staff during my stay explained things in terms I could understand. Food service checked with me if I hadn't called as usual. Special services personnel checked on me there and when I got home. And, a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and technicians who were with me 24 hrs a day. You all are great!
