The Understanding Breastfeeding class will help you get the best start to breastfeeding by sharing breastfeeding during hospitalization.
You will learn when to feed your baby by watching for feeding cues, feeding patterns and guidelines, and how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk. You’ll learn about breast care, hand expression and pumping, and warning signs. We will discuss breastfeeding lifestyle through partner support and involvement, self-care, substances to avoid, support groups, returning to work, and lactation support services.
We encourage expecting mothers to attend with a support person(s). Classes are offered both in-person and virtually (request virtual link by calling 830.258.7444).
Participants will receive an interactive InJoy book with access to additional education materials to use for continued learning at home.
All meetings are held in Classroom B on the second floor of Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.
