Kerrville, TX – Cory Edmondson, MBA, FACHE, President and CEO of Peterson Health has been recruited to Wichita Falls, TX to become the next President and CEO of United Regional Health Care System. Edmondson has been with Peterson Health since May 2019.

United Regional Health Care System (URHCS) is an independent, not-for-profit health system that operates a 300-bed and Level II Trauma medical center. It serves nine counties in north central Texas with a primary service area of more than 135,000 and a secondary service area of more than 81,000.

“Congratulations to Cory. His visionary and inspirational leadership has led to tremendous growth and positivity since his arrival. We want to continue with the strategy and growth mindset that he’s established in the culture at Peterson. The Board of Directors is proud of him and his tenure,” said Tom Houdeshell, Chairman of the Peterson Health Board of Directors.

To highlight some of Edmondson’s achievements, he and his team were able to develop new service lines, acquire land and property for future growth, and open a new state-of-the-art surgery center, among many other accomplishments. His energetic approach and expectations to perform with excellence resonate throughout Peterson. As a result, Peterson received national awards for safety, quality, and experience. One of the highlights is recognition by Modern Healthcare as a “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” for four consecutive years.

“This was one of the hardest decisions of my life, and I wasn’t looking to make a change. I always said I would retire here unless God had other plans. This opportunity came to me at a time when my family is growing. Angie and I will be blessed with our first grandchild in February, and this opportunity puts us much closer to her and all of our children. When we looked at the benefits of being closer to them it was hard to ignore. I strongly believe God has a plan for all of us, and after a lot of prayer and conversation with my family, I know this is the right decision for us,” said Edmondson.

“Peterson Health’s future is bright. We just celebrated our 75th anniversary as a private independent healthcare system. No matter who the next President and CEO of Peterson Health is, the Leadership Team is well positioned to take Peterson to the next level and thrive for another 75 years. I’m proud of what this organization has accomplished in such a short time. They are meeting and often exceeding our Mission of Exceptional, Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care,” said Edmondson.

Houdeshell and the Board of Directors will be assembling a CEO Search Committee and will hire an Executive Search Firm to complete a national search. “Peterson Health is a highly respected and well-known entity in healthcare. I have no doubt we will see many qualified applicants,” says Houdeshell.

Edmondson’s last day will be February 7, 2025.
