At Peterson Health we understand the challenges new nurses face. This is why we offer a comprehensive, one-year nurse residency program designed to effectively support new graduate nurses and “back to the bedside” nurses with blended learning, ongoing support, and trained preceptors as they transition into confident professionals.
Nurse Residency Program at a Glance
• 12 monthly sessions of didactic, simulation, discussion, clinical, and professional development
• Designed to facilitate the development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for successful nurses
• Program includes: lectures, simulation, case studies, videos, journaling, research, and a case study presentation
The program consists of 12 monthly sessions of didactic, simulation, discussion, and clinical and professional development, including two sessions focusing on career progression planning. The didactic portion involves lectures, case studies, videos, journaling, research, and case study presentations. Simulation will be used to facilitate knowledge transfer to the acute care arena.
The evidence-based program allows new graduates to grow both clinically and professionally alongside their cohort, fostering the hands-on experience, teamwork, and camaraderie that is the foundation for exceptional patient care.
The curriculum is designed to help develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for successful nurses of the future. Critical thinking will be enhanced through utilization of the nursing process, communication, socialization, teamwork, and simulation. The resident will feel confident in caring for the medically complex patient across the care continuum. Graduates of the program are able to incorporate evidence-based research into daily practices in order to consistently provide high quality, safe patient care.
