Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation Approves Educational Grant Funding

Kerrville, TX – Healthcare has been front and center of public awareness for centuries, however COVID-19 has sharpened the focus on the profession’s importance. Higher education is critical for sustaining sophistication and excellence in the health care provided in this country.

At a local level, Peterson Health has been the beacon of light for health care in the Texas Hill Country. Peterson supports staff educational desires through internal educational assistance and tuition reimbursement. We are thankful when others see the value in pursuing education and donate funds to support our team.

The Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation has been a strong supporter of Peterson Health for decades and most recently awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the John and Emma Lapham Endowment Fund. The Endowment states that funds “…will be for the purpose of giving assistance as to schooling and education to worthy persons who are interested in the nursing profession.”

Peterson Health is thankful to the Hal & Charlie Peterson Foundation, as well as the Lapham family, for their generosity and support of the nursing profession through educational assistance. Three Peterson Health nurses were able to finish Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees because of the Lapham grant. The care provided to our region is elevated through opportunities such as this for higher education.

Cory Edmondson, Peterson Health’s President and CEO, shares “All staff in healthcare are valuable and we all work together for the best of the patient and family. Nursing has a unique role in providing direct care that is often underestimated. Their touch, smile, listening ears, and words spoken impact the life of an individual at some of the most vulnerable and intimate levels.”
